| Description |
Ruby Blevins (1908-1996), Arkansas-born singer, yodeller, fiddler and guitarist, was - as Patsy Montana - the first female Country artist to make a national name on radio and records. With her four-man string band The Prairie Ramblers, the Yodelling Cowgirl enjoyed enormous success during the 30s, later becoming influenced by Western swing. From being a big radio star during the 40s, she survived a long spell out of music to reappear in the 70s and was still performing to her countless fans until shortly before her death, just before being elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Here is the cream of Patsys output, every one a gem. Living Eras The Original Cowboys Sweetheart presents no fewer than 27 of her finest. Led off by the 1935 theme song that sold a million (the first by a female Country artist): I Want To Be A Cowboys Sweetheart, the sequence also includes 12 of her own compositions (When The Flowers Of Montana Are Blooming, The She Buckaroo, Ridin The Sunset Trail, etc.).
Original mono recordings from 1932-1945. |
