| Description |
The Overstake sisters, Evelyn (b.1914), Lucille (1915-1978), and Eva (1918-1951), were originally known as The Three Little Maids a popular singing trio in the early days of WLSs Chicago Barndance. The youngest, Eva, married Red Foley in 1933 at the age of 16. She went on to work with Foley and as Judy Martin enjoyed success during the 1930s and 1940s. Lucille also changed her name, first to Lucille Lee making several risqu recordings with the Prairie Ramblers when they were singing as the Sweet Violet Boys; and later to Jenny Lou Carson enjoying a successful career as a song-writer with hits such as Never Trust A Woman, Let Me Go Lover, Jealous Love and many others. Evelyn for her part also followed a solo career and remained a popular artist on the Barndance often appearing with the Hoosier Hotshots.
In 1951 Eva committed suicide at the age of 33 after discovering her husband had an affair. One of Foley and Evas children, Shirley, later married pop singer Pat Boone and in turn their daughter, Debbie Boone, became a popular singer in her own right.
