| Description |
When Mercury Records released their first recordings in the fall of 1945, they were among scores of new labels setting up in the optimistic post-war business climate. But within a few years, Mercury was considered one of the major recording companies.
Mercury started in 1945 with a 2000 series that included some country and blues among a predominately popular and big band roster. The next year it developed separate series for popular, big band, blues and country. The songs on this CD mostly come from the 6000 country series and all were released between 1946 and 1954. |
