| Description |
This collection is at the sane time both startling and revealing. Blues, of course, was expressive of many aspects of African-American life, and a remarkably high proportion of blues on records is about sex. The impression given by these bawdy songs is one of an optimistic sexuality, charged at times with a challenging aggressiveness which hints at their function in black music. The integrity of these artists and their mark on the development of the blues is indisputable. At the same time, these songs reveal their own personal way of expressing some of the more primal and explicit of human emotions. Above all, this collection is fraught with good humor and, in final analysis, great fun! |
